GENESIS was created for the 2019 Playmaker Game Jam. My partner in this game jam was my former game design professor, Jerry Berg. This was the second project he and I collaborated on. In the end, the game ended up taking first place in the game jam. The game was created in Unity using the Play maker add on over the course of three days.

The theme of the game jam was “Dark Miracles” so we decided to focus on the miracle of life from a cosmic perspective, and we made a game that allows the player to “play god” and create complex life by navigating space to collect the required life essence.

In the game, the player controls a galaxy and moves freely around the screen as “life essence” and black holes fly across. The goal is to build up each arm of your galaxy by collecting the corresponding essence colors. Hit the wrong arm and you’ll lose points in that arm. Once the player has achieved enough points in each arm, the player is presented with a form of life, the complexity of which is determined on how fast they reached the end.
